During the latter part of his career, Lee became less active in his work at Marvel, taking on several collaborators who also shared his passion for comic books. He was inducted into the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame and the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame, awarded by the comic book industry. He also received the National Medal of Arts in 2008.
