AFC Wimbledon head coach Mark Robinson says he might have to “think outside the box” for his team selection this weekend with Ayoub Assal and Luke McCormick both suspended for the trip to Bolton Wanderers.
Assal picked up his 10th yellow card of the season in the 1-1 draw with Sunderland, which sees the 20-year-old Moroccan banned for two games.
While McCormick, who scored the opener against the Black Cats, was sent off in the 90th minute at Plough Lane after he was issued with his second yellow of the match.
Assal is Wimbledon’s joint-top goalscorer this season with eight, and McCormick has registered the most assists in all competitions (six).
The Dons came from behind to draw 3-3 with Bolton in the reverse fixture back in August.
Speaking to the South London Press about the conundrum the two suspended players pose to his team selection, Robinson said: “I have possibly got to think outside the box a little bit – we might have a possible injury to Anthony Hartigan as well.
“But I believe that we have got enough ability and enough talent. We went to Wycombe with a similar situation and came out of that really well – we should have come out of that with three points and not one.
“I am confident that we will be fine.”
The Dons will be without captain Alex Woodyard, who suffered a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw with Burton Albion last month.
