Friends and well-wishers have raised more than £7,000 for a 21-year-old man who was stabbed to death while out buying milk with his girlfriend.
Bartosz Wyrzykowski, was attacked at 5pm on Tuesday, February 8.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene in Lionel Road, Eltham, where he was treated before being taken to an East London hospital – but he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A gofundme page for the DJ has already collected £7,497, bursting past the £5,000 target the organiser wanted to raise for his family, after 322 donations.
Friend Ola Bradford said: “He was 21 years old and had his whole life ahead of him, about to start a new job. His family and friends are devastated and in shock.
“I would like to help them in their grief and therefore set up this GoFundMe page to help with the funeral costs.
“His parents are hardworking and honest people who always tried to help others.”
His teacher Susan Wynne said: “It was a pleasure to have taught you Bart. You were a funny, kind lad. I will never forget you. Sleep peacefully.”
Donor Robert Finlay added: “I don’t know this poor young lad or his family but am so shocked by this senseless attack and waste of a young person’s life, and knowing the desperately profound pain his dear family and friends will carry to their graves. God be with you all.”
One donor, Waldemar Adamski, gave £150.
All the funds will be transferred to his mum to support her and the family in this unthinkable situation.
His next of kin are being supported by specialist officers.
Although he has not been formally identified, police have named the victim as Bartosz Wyrzykowski, aged 21 – known as Bartek to his family and friends.
Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are investigating the killing.
Detective Inspector Mel Pressley said: “I want to reassure the local community that a team of experienced and dedicated officers are working tirelessly to ensure those responsible for Bartek’s murder are identified and apprehended.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of this incident to come forward and speak to police.
“Lionel Road would have been busy at around 5pm – did you see an altercation involving a group of people? Did you capture any of the incident on your phone?
“If you can help, please get in contact with my team as the information you hold could prove vital to progressing this investigation.”
