The pair know each other from Inter Milan and will be reunited in north London after the Croatian decided against extending his San Siro stay in favour of a Premier League move. He is expected to take up a wing-back role in north London.
Conte is a huge fan of Perisic and, at 33 years old, his signing is a departure from Tottenham’s traditional transfer policy of young, promising talent. Conte wants winners and has already told Spurs how he can help them win those elusive trophies.
Conte shipped Perisic out on loan to Bayern Munich before integrating him back into his Serie A-winning squad the following season.
In 2021, Conte said of Perisic: “I am happy for Ivan, because in the end he had an incredible experience with Bayern Munich, a winning one, in which he won three trophies.
“Now he’s back, with great determination to play for Inter and help us out, to put himself at the service of the team, and I am happy that he’s got this desire.
“Also, because when you’ve got this kind of determination, this enthusiasm, this desire, in the end everything gets easier for the coach.”
