Klopp on Milner renewal
Jurgen Klopp has revealed details behind some of the conversations he held with James Milner before the midfielder signed a new Liverpool contract on Monday, vowing there is “more to come” from the veteran.
“Typically, the discussions we had around extending his contract were centred on: what kind of contribution do we see him making as a player?” Klopp told the club’s official website.
“My answer to him was the same I’ll share with supporters: we don’t limit it. We just want the same from him again, because that’s not possible to replace. He can still do it and we still need it.
“So I’m grateful he answered the call and agreed to give us the extra year of his extraordinary career. More to come.”
Kelleher coy on future
Caoimhin Kelleher will consider his club future in the coming weeks once he returns from international duty with Ireland.
The 23-year-old is Liverpool’s second-choice goalkeeper behind Alisson, though starred in the Carabao Cup final earlier this season, and he remained guarded when asked about his long-term future at Anfield.
“I’m not sure on what’s happening yet,” Kelleher said.
“I’m still finishing this season and then we will have conversations after that to see what happens.
“Obviously I need to play these few games and see what happens with these and maybe decide after that.”
No concrete offers for Scamacca
Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has revealed there has been no formal approach yet for striker Gianluca Scamacca.
Arsenal have been linked with a potential move for the 23-year-old, but it would appear that has not progressed to an offer yet.
“There’s nothing concrete yet for Scamacca, just some contacts with some clubs”, Carnevali told Sky Sport.
“Of course, after playing with the national team the interest is now growing.”
