There is just one week remaining now until the summer transfer window is open for business, with plenty of high-profile deals already on the verge of completion.
Arsenal are pushing ahead with attempts to sign Gabriel Jesus and Youri Tielemans, though are set to lose Alexandre Lacazette to Lyon.
Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio, while they are also in talks over Frenkie de Jong and Jurrien Timber. They are also eyeing Benfica marksman Darwin Nunez.
Paul Pogba, meanwhile, is heading back to Juventus after being shown the Old Trafford exit door, while Tottenham have apparently been offered West Ham star Tomas Soucek.
Elsewhere, Chelsea and Spurs may be going head to head for new defensive recruits in Josko Gvardiol and Gleison Bremer, with Jules Kounde and Alessandro Bastoni also key targets for Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte respectively.
Barcelona have been heavily linked with Robert Lewandowski, though could now be turning their attentions to wantaway Chelsea record signing Romelu Lukaku instead.

West Ham’s Soucek ‘offered to Tottenham’
Now here’s a rumour that is sure to rile West Ham fans.
Football Insider are reporting that Tottenham – of all teams – have been offered the chance to sign Tomas Soucek.
The Czech midfielder is a key figure under David Moyes, though talks over a contract extension at London Stadium have stalled, leading to suggestions that he could depart this summer.
The latest reports suggest there is a real prospect that Soucek could be sold with tensions behind the scenes, with agents offering his services to fierce rivals Spurs.
The chances of West Ham allowing such a deal to come to pass would surely be zero, however.
Brentford offer Eriksen long-term contract
An update on Christian Eriksen’s future now.
Tottenham and Manchester United are among the clubs to have been linked with a potential free transfer for the Danish playmaker this summer.
However, Sky Sports report that Brentford have now offered Eriksen a long-term contract to stay in west London, where he resumed his career on a short-term basis from January after recovering from the cardiac arrest suffered on the pitch at Euro 2020.
The 30-year-old is said to be settled with the Bees, though is keen on a return to Champions League football.
We await his decision!
Nunez urged to snub Man United for Liverpool
Darwin Nunez has been urged to join Liverpool rather than Manchester United.
Jurgen Klopp is also likely to be pursuing new forward targets this summer, with Sadio Mane agitating to join Bayern Munich and the likes of Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino also enter the final year of their respective contracts.
Nunez would be quite a signing to pair with the impactful Luis Diaz, with former defender Luis Enrique hoping his old club can get a deal over the line.
“I hope this is not true and he come to us instead,” the Spaniard wrote next to a report suggesting United could sign Nunez.
“Top player that can become world-class under Klopp if we sell Sadio Mane.”
Chelsea star Pulisic ‘wants more playing time’
Christian Pulisic has admitted that he wants more playing time at Chelsea.
The American international endured something of a frustrating season under Thomas Tuchel, making just 13 starts in the Premier League.
A tweet sent by Pulisic’s father Mark earlier this season also did not appear to help matters much.
Addressing his situation while away on international duty with the USA, Pulisic Jr insisted he was happy to stay at Chelsea as the new Todd Boehly era begins, but admitted he wants more chances.
“As far as right now, I’m obviously just focused on what I’m doing here. And I’m super excited to be here. And yeah, that’s it,’ he said.
“Of course, I want to get more playing time. I want to be on the field as much as I can and be the sharpest I can be and fit as well.
“I think I still got a lot of games, but it’s always something that I’m working at and trying to be regular at club level as well to put myself in the best position to be fit when I come here with the national team.”
Man United offered Asensio deal
Staying with Manchester United for a second, could Marco Asensio make the switch to Old Trafford this summer?
Spanish TV programme El Chiringuito reports that the Spanish winger has been offered to Erik ten Hag by super agent Jorge Mendes.
“I have one more year in my contract yet here we are talking about me leaving Real Madrid. This is an important moment for me, I will not deny it,” Asensio recently told AS.
“I am more mature and not only on the field, this is an important moment and I will have to make important decisions.
“Me and my family know that I have to keep growing and moving forward. I want to achieve important things in football and they help me do that.”
ICYMI – Man United target Benfica star Nunez
Manchester United are hot on the trail of Benfica marksman Darwin Nunez.
New boss Erik ten Hag is trying to instigate a major squad overhaul in his first summer at Old Trafford after the club’s worst-ever Premier League campaign.
He is targeting new additions right throughout the team, including up front, where United are lacking with Edinson Cavani departing.
According to talkSPORT, United have joined the likes of Tottenham and Real Madrid in the race for Cavani’s fellow Uruguayan Nunez, who has made quite a name for himself after scoring 34 goals across all competitions this term.
Nunez is expected to cost around £68m, with reports that he is eager to move to United.
Arsenal ‘convinced’ over Tielemans deal
Arsenal also remain firmly in the hunt for Youri Tielemans it seems.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano insists that interest has not waned despite a seeming lack of progress, with negotiations with Leicester set to be protracted across the summer.
However, it is said that Tielemans has definitely made up his mind to leave the King Power Stadium, where he is out of contract next summer.
Two other clubs are also said to be tracking the Belgian midfielder… could Manchester United be one of them?
Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror says that Mikel Arteta is “convinced” that Arsenal can sign Tielemans.
Arsenal step up Gabriel Jesus chase
Arsenal are stepping up their efforts to sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.
The Gunners want to bolster their frontline with at least one marquee signing this summer, a need that has become more urgent despite Eddie Nketiah’s contract U-turn with Alexandre Lacazette on his way back to Lyon.
Jesus has long since emerged as their top target, with City seemingly prepared to let him go as he enters the final year of his contract and they prepare to welcome Erling Haaland to the Etihad.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are ramping up their pursuit of the Brazilian international, who is keen to reunite with former Pep Guardiola assistant Mikel Arteta in north London.
Arsenal will reportedly have to spend around €50-€60m to land Jesus, who scored for Brazil in yesterday’s 5-1 friendly win over South Korea and is also of interest to rivals Tottenham, among other clubs.
Marco Asensio refuses to rule out Real Madrid exit
Marco Asensio has given an interesting update on his future amid interest from Manchester United.
He told AS: “I have one more year in my contract yet here we are talking about me leaving Real Madrid.
“This is an important moment for me, I will not deny it. I am more mature and not only on the field, this is an important moment and I will have to make important decisions.
“Me and my family know that I have to keep growing and moving forward. I want to achieve important things in football and they help me do that.”
Interest in Hector Bellerin high
Hector Bellerin has interest from Italian clubs Fiorentina and Roma after leaving Real Betis.
The LaLiga side are keen on signing the right-back once again after a solid loan spell in Spain yet his £100,000-a-week wage demands are thought to be an issue in the deal.
Seeing out his final year at Arsenal is not said to be on Bellerin’s agenda.
