Former President Donald Trump attacked Jews in the US on his Truth Social platform on Sunday, writing that they should “get their act together” and “appreciate” Israel before it is too late.

“No president has done more for Israel than I have. Somewhat surprisingly, our wonderful evangelicals are much more appreciative of this than the people of the Jewish faith, especially those living in the US,” Trump wrote.

“Those who live in Israel, however, are a different story – the highest approval rating in the world, could easily be prime minister!” he continued.

It is not clear what prompted the message. Trump has made similar comments in the past about American Jews, the majority of whom tend to vote Democrat.

In an interview last year, Trump said, “The Jewish people in the United States either don’t love Israel or don’t care about Israel,” adding, “There are people in this country who are Jewish and no longer love Israel.

“I’ll tell you, the evangelical Christians love Israel more than the Jews in this country,” said Trump, who received strong support from white evangelical voters in 2016 and 2020, according to the report. Pew Research Center.

Trump also told Ami Magazinean Orthodox Jewish news publication said last year that “Jewish people living in the United States don’t love Israel enough” and that he finds it “strange” that he doesn’t have stronger Jewish support.

Trump was criticized as president for referring to Israel as “your country” when addressing American Jews at a 2018 Hanukkah event at the White House.
