To improve passenger safety by introducing security features, Uber has introduced new features in its application. The ride hailing company has introduced more features including sending notifications, an SOS button and seat belt reminders to improve security and safety. The application also updated existing features such as the Ride Check feature.
In 2019, Uber introduced the Ride Check feature, which detects potential car accidents or if a ride is unusually long without stopping. Uber also introduced an updated Safety ToolKit in August 2022. The toolkit allowed passengers and drivers to report safety incidents with an emergency button.
Here is the list of features introduced with the latest update-
SOS function
The company has integrated an SOS button into the application that connects the passenger to the city police in case of emergency. This feature shares all details such as vehicle details, driver details and lice location.
Ride Check function
This feature was launched in 2019 and is now updated with new features. This function warns the passengers if the driver takes an unexpected route during the journey.
Not only passengers, but also the Ride Check function ensures safety for the driver. Passengers and the driver receive a notification during the journey to check whether everything is in order.
Belt reminder
When the government made it mandatory to wear a rear seatbelt, Uber introduced a new reminder feature to comply with the directive. This feature sends an audio reminder to the passenger to wear the seat belt.
