When we think of electric two-wheelers in India, we think of scooters with a low power and a short range. However, that is no longer the case as bona fide automakers launch vigorously electric bicycles in the country.



While the electric bike segment is still lagging behind in terms of options, that will soon change. Hero, EeVe and Evolet showcased their electric bikes at the Auto Expo 2020 and promised a few launches this year.

Before we look at the upcoming electric bikes in India, let’s take a look at the Revolt RV400, an existing electric bike, its features and range.



Top Upcoming Electric Bikes in India

Rebellion RV400

The Revolt RV400 is currently available in only two cities: Delhi and Pune. The engine is powered by a 3,000 W motor that can produce a maximum torque of 170 Nm and a top speed of 80 km/h. It is powered by a 3.23 kWh battery that can be fully charged in 4.5 hours and has a range of 150 km. It is available in two variants: Basic and Premium. The Base variant is available for 3,499 per month and the Premium variant is available for ₹3,999 per month. For both variants, buyers have to pay 37 monthly installments.



Hero Electric AE-47

Upcoming new electric bicycles in India in 2022

Hero Electric showed the AE-47, the company’s first electric bike at the Auto Expo 2020. The bike is expected to be launched in the coming months. It is aimed at the premium segment and is expected to cost around ₹1.25-1.5 lakh.

The Hero Electric AE-47 is powered by a 4,000W electric motor with a claimed top speed of 85 km/h. It is powered by a 3.5 kWh lithium-ion battery with a range of 85 km in Power mode and 160 km in Eco mode. The company has revealed that the battery can be fully charged in 4 hours.



Tork T6X

Upcoming new electric bicycles in India in 2022

Tork Motors, which received an investment from Ratan Tata last year, is currently working on the Tork T6X electric bicycle for the Indian market. The bike is expected to hit the market in the coming months.

The Tork T6X is said to be powered by a 72 Ah lithium-ion battery and can be charged to 80% in an hour. It is said to be powered by a 6 kW BLDC motor producing 27 Nm of torque and a top speed of 100 km/h. The range of the bike would be 100 km on a single charge.



Evolet Hawk

Upcoming new electric bicycles in India in 2022

Evolet, a Gurugram-based start-up, showcased the Hawk electric bicycle at the Auto Expo 2020. It is reportedly powered by a 72-volt battery that can be recharged in 3 to 4 hours and has a range of 100 km. The Evolet Hawk is said to have a top speed of 120 km/h.



EeVe Tesoro

EeVe is another start-up working on electric bicycles and scooters. The company showcased its Tesoro bike at the Auto Expo 2020. However, the company didn’t reveal much information about the upcoming bike. It is expected to be launched in June 2020.

The EeVe Tesoro is said to have a top speed of 70 km/h and a range of 100 km. The bike is fully charged in 3 to 4 hours.
