Shocking new video obtained by The Post shows the harrowing moment Manhattan himself bodega worker Jose Alba was stabbed while fending off and fatally slashing an abusive ex-con who attacked him.
In the chilling footage, Alba, 61, fights back and punches career criminal Austin Simon at the Manhattan bodega on July 1 — while the former convict’s girlfriend appears to pull a knife from her bag and stab the worker.
Simon was later pronounced dead, while Alba was charged with murder.
The images give a new look at the bloody exchange. Simon’s unknown girlfriend has not been charged in the case.
The new footage shows Simon, 35, going behind the counter from a different angle and confronting Alba, who then struggles with the younger man and pulls a knife from a candy shelf.
Alba is repeatedly stabbed by Simon and after a few moments the woman identified as Simon’s girlfriend appears to take a knife from her bag and stab the worker.
Police sources said Alba was stabbed during the attack, but the girlfriend denied to police that she stabbed him.
The bodega clerk’s lawyer said during his arraignment last week that Simon’s girlfriend stabbed the worker three times in the shoulder and hand.
The new footage shows Simon lying in a pool of blood at the back of the cash register. Alba can be seen in the background, still holding the bloodied knife.
The girlfriend is seen crying and at one point appears to be trying to resuscitate Simon.
The police arrive and take Alba, who suffered apparent stab wounds to the shoulder, into custody.
The video comes after previous surveillance clips showed Alba being thrown into a wall by Simon, and another of Alba begging the younger man after he stormed in.
“Dad, I don’t want a problem,” Alba says in one of the earlier clips.
The hard-working immigrant was charged with second-degree murder and had to be held on $250,000 bail until prosecutors negotiated a $5,000 bail last week.
Alba is now at home under close supervision awaiting his next court appearance.
