Heathrow faces ‘summer of turmoil’ as British Airways staff vote to strike
British Airways is facing the prospect of significant disruption at London Heathrow airport
this summer after hundreds of check-in staff voted to strike in a row over pay.
Both the Unite and GMB Unions said on Thursday
The airline expects the strikes to affect about 700 staff
roughly half BA’s check-in workforce at Heathrow.
Unite said the strike would cause a “summer of turmoil” for the airline
which has largely managed to avoid last-minute cancellations
The unions are calling for BA to reinstate a 10 per cent pay cut brought in during the pandemic.
The airline has offered a one-off 10 per cent pay award, rather than a full pay rise.
