When will Ayumu make his move? Plot, publication and more
The romantic comedy story revolves around the two main characters Urushi Yaotome and Ayumu Tanaka. Urushi and Ayumu are the only members of their school’s shogi club. Ayumu is a freshman who vows to confess his feelings to Urushi after beating her in a game of Shogi.
Kodansha Comics describes the plot as follows:
Yaotome is the president of the shogi club at her high school, and she’s pretty sure that Ayumu, an undergrad and the only other member of the club, is deeply in love with her. They get together every day after school to play shogi, but no matter what she does, she can’t seem to get him to confess his feelings! What she doesn’t know is that Ayumu made a pact with himself to reveal his love only after defeating Yaotome in shogi for the first time. But there’s one big problem with this plan…it really sucks!”
The anime series is an adaptation of Soichiri Yamamoto’s manga. Yamamoto launched the manga series in March 2019 in Shonen Magazine. It currently has seven volumes published by Kodansha’s Ranobe Books imprint, with the eighth volume set to be published on July 16, 2022.
