The Fall of a TV Icon – Erika Cosby’s Father Bill Cosby’s Jail and Release
Although multiple sexual misconduct allegations were made against Bill for a long time, his guilt was not proven. Bill has been the subject of allegations of drug-facilitated assault, child sexual abuse and more, which allegedly took place in the mid-1960s.
In recent years, Cosby has denied the allegations and maintained his innocence at all times. One of the many Cosby victims was Judith Huth, a California resident who attracted media attention after she filed a lawsuit against him in 2014.
In December 2014, Huth filed a lawsuit against Cosby alleging that the comedian sexually assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion in 1975, when she was only 16 years old.
While Cosby did not deny dating Judy, he disagreed that she was underage at the time. However, the jury ruled that he did know that Huth was under the age of 18.
The Los Angeles County jury pronounced its verdict in her favor on June 21, 2022. She received $500k and no punitive damages. Judith Huth is one of the few women who has been given justice for what they went through. While 60 women filed suit against Bill, only a few went to court because many of them overshot the statute of limitations.
After a retrial in 2018, Cosby was sentenced to 10 years in prison on three charges of aggravated indecent assault. He was released from prison in 2021, just two years later after his conviction was technically overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Just a few hours after his release, Cosby tweeted that he never changed his point of view or his story. He also thanked his fans and supporters for being there for him.
