Ben Brode began his career as a video game tester at Blizzard Entertainment when he was 20 years old. He went on to work on Warcraft III, a fantasy real-time strategy computer video game, and World of Warcraft, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. He held this position for a year and a half before being promoted to Environment Test Lead.
While testing the games, he created custom Warcraft III maps, one of which was named “Map of the Week” and was even released to the community. He later began applying for new jobs at Blizzard, including one as a designer of the popular science fiction real-time strategy video game StarCraft II. Instead, he got a job as a designer for the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game.
