Making the cut returns with its latest chapter, featuring a fresh group of exceptionally brilliant and unusual designers eager to make their mark in the fashion world. Georgia Hardinge, a sustainable 3D designer from London, is one of ten contestants competing for a $1 million prize. Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Alicia Keys have all worn her designs. Victoria’s Secret, Swarovski and Lancôme, among others, have recognized Hardinge’s creations.

Making the Cut Season 3 will premiere on Prime Video on August 19 in more than 240 countries. Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn return as judges, and they will be joined by Nichole Richie and Jeremy Scott. This season’s guest judges include Chloe x Halle, Jason Bolden and Wisdom Kaye.

Heidi Klum stated in an Amazon Studios press release:

“I’m very excited to see Making the Cut return for its third season this summer.” I was thrilled to see Tim, Nicole and Jeremy again as we searched for the next great global fashion brand among our most creative group of designers ever! This season’s fashion really exceeded our expectations, and there are so many incredible ensembles that I can’t wait to wear.”

Meet the 3D designer of Making the Cut, Georgia Hardinge.

Georgia Hardinge graduated from Parsons Paris School of Art & Design in 2010 and founded her own company. The designer focuses on luxury sustainability through the use of organic and recycled fabrics in her designs. She is also heavily influenced by architecture and uses the pleating technique to create three-dimensional sculptural silhouettes in free-flowing fabrics. Her influences often include London’s infrastructure, which offers an excellent mix of old and new structures.

The designer’s website highlights her brand, saying:

“Georgia Hardinge is a modern brand influenced by new technology and innovation. The company employs a strong sculptural aesthetic and offers a three-dimensional approach to wearable items.”

Hardinge was nominated for the Sustainability Award at the Drapers Awards 2019. When asked to characterize her brand in a 2019 interview with Drapers, the designer said:

“An intriguing, sculptural, sustainable clothing company that takes a three-dimensional approach to female design.”

In the interview, she also said that sustainability is one of the most difficult issues facing the fashion industry.

Speaking further on the matter, she added:

“Because retail has such a damaging impact on the environment, it’s critical that we all work together to make a difference.”

Since launching her company, the Making the Cut candidate has received a lot of acclaim. She received the BFC Contemporary Sponsorship and the Fashion Trust Grant for her outspoken structural approach. As part of a catwalk exhibition, the designer was asked to represent the United Kingdom at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2022 in Rwanda. Florence Welch, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Kylie Minogue and Grimes, among others, have worn Hardinge’s creations. Grazia and Elle have designated her as One to Watch.
