Walter Marvin Koenig was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 14, 1936. He is the son of Sarah and Isadore Koenig. His father was a businessman and the family eventually moved to Manhattan. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. He later transferred to UCLA to continue his BA in Psychology. The actor also studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater.

Career

In 1962, Walter Koenig made his film debut in The Norman Vincent Peale Story. He appeared in Nightmare Honeymoon in 1974. He first appeared as Pavel Chekov in Star Trek: The Motion Picture in 1979. He then appeared in several Star Trek movies. In Moontrap he played Col. Jason Grant in 1989. In 1994 he also appeared in Star Trek Generations.

In Drawing Down the Moon he played Joe Merchant. He appeared in the 2006 film Mad Cowgirl. The following year, he appeared in InAlienable. This was followed by a role as Lassie in Blue Dream.

He appeared in the movies Neil Stryker and the Tyrant of Time and Nobility in 2017. A year later, he played Milton Green in the movie Diminuendo. In 2019 he was also featured in the documentary Women in Motion. The actor was last seen in the 2020 film Unbelievable!!!!!

In 1963, he made his first television appearance in General Hospital. From 1963 to 1965, Koenig appeared in Mr. novak. From 1967 to 1969, he played Pavel Chekov in Star Trek: The Original Series. In 1971, the actor appeared in the TV movie Goodbye, Raggedy Anne.
