Netflix’s Argentine prison drama series El Marginal is in good books from critics throughout the series. And season five was no different. The fifth season premiered on Netflix on May 4, 2022 and ended the story on a convincing note. However, fans of the series are still waiting for the return of Miguel Palacios, aka Pastor, in El Marginal Season 6. But will there be a sixth season? Let’s find out!
Will there be El Marginal season 6?
The fifth season of El Marginal premiered on Netflix on May 4, 2022. Speaking of the prospect of El Marginal season 6, we regret to inform all fans of the show that there will be no sixth season. Even before the season premiere, it was confirmed that the fifth season would be the final installment of the series.
Speaking about the show’s conclusion, producer Pablo Culell said: “El Marginal’ ends because it completed a cycle…I think it will look good at the top because ‘El Marginal’ leaves at the best time. It’s good to to know how to say goodbye, so that it remains unforgettable.”
So any fans waiting for the show to return should now say goodbye to the show. But they find comfort in the knowledge that the show has reached its natural end, and season five offers a satisfying ending.
Is El Marginal based on a real story?
After watching the many fans have the question in mind, whether real events inspire the El marginal. The answer is no. It is not based on a true story. However, several variables contribute to the validity of the story. Juan Minujn confirmed in an interview in June 2017 that the team had a lot of contact with people who were in prison.
On the set, some of them even worked as extras. The actor talked in another chat about preparing for his role. He spent time with police officers in addition to receiving combat and weapons training. And tried to imagine how they would react if they were put in jail because it would have been misleading to show Pastor as a seasoned inmate.
One of the most intriguing parts of the program is that for a significant part it is shot in a real prison called Cárcel de Caseros. Inmates at Caseros Prison were known to be treated inhumanely, and riots and demonstrations were rife. As a result, the show’s portrayal of prison life is not far from reality.
The cast of El Marginal is an ensemble of talented actors whose performances have given the series a boost. The series stars, Juan Minujín in the role of Miguel Palacios AKA Pastor, and Nicolás Furtado as Juan Pablo “Diosito” Borges. In addition, Claudio Rissi plays Mario Borges, Martina Gusmán plays Emma, Gerardo Romano plays Sergio Antín and Abel Ayala plays César.
Meanwhile, the show also stars Lorenzo Ferro as Cristian Pardo, Ignacio Sureda as Pantera and Carlos Portaluppi as El Morcilla. There is also Cristina Banegas as Elida. If the show ever picks up for El Marginal season 6, we might see most of the main cast return in their respective roles.
