The first season of Marvel’s Moon Knight ended a few days ago. Called “Marvel’s Batman” by many, Moon Knight is unlike most of the superheroes we know and love in the MCU. After the end of the first season, fans are wondering about the return of the Capped vigilante with Moon Knight season 2 on Disney+.
Moon Knight split from the other Marvel Disney+ series because it only had a few nods to the MCU. This allowed the show to tell its own story without being distracted by other stories. The show has received wildly positive reviews from fans and critics alike.
Is Moon Knight Season 2 Coming?
The first season of Moon Knight premiered on Disney+ on March 30, 2022, and the season ended with the finale airing on May 4. Speaking of the prospect of Moon Knight season 2, fans should know that the show was originally planned as a mini-series. However, the series generated an overwhelming response for the first season. The fans have gone crazy after watching the first season of Moon KNight. As a result, the studio is reportedly planning to continue with Moon Knight season 2.
The rumors about the second season became more important after a mistake by Marvel. The studio has tweeted a photo before the final. It said ‘series final’. Shortly after, however, the Tweet was removed and the updated Tweet read “Seasonal Final.” This hint is more than enough to give us an idea that Moon Knight season 2 is definitely in Marvel’s schedule of things. As if that’s not enough, Disney+ also tweeted on the microblogging app, saying, “Can’t decide which is harder. Dealing with heat or waiting for season 2 of #MoonKnight.”
Moon Knight Season 2: Now What?
The Moon Knight finale leaves certain storylines open for the second season. Layla El-Faouly, Marc Spector’s wife, got Tawaret’s avatar in the sixth episode of Moon Knight, which could lead to a deeper exploration of her newfound abilities. Moon Knight Season 2 is built in perhaps the most important way by Jake Lockley.
Throughout the first season, Marvel teased the appearance of Spector’s third alternate identity. Jake is the new incarnation of Khonshu, according to the closing credits of episode 6. However, Marc and Steven seem to be unaware of this, making up a key story for Moon Knight season 2.
Will there be Sun King in Moon Knight season 2?
The Sun King is a Marvel character who serves a guardian deity, this time the sun god Ra. According to Egyptian mythology, the Sun King, as an incarnation of Ra, can control fire and has a strong hatred for Khonshu, the son of Ra. As a result, the Sun King and Moon Knight often clash as the newest warriors in a never-ending conflict between gods.
Sun King is a new villain in the Marvel Comics universe. This would give Marvel Studios a more creative license when developing a live-action rendition of the character. He is also depicted with a condition similar to Marc Spector’s, which requires the hero to better understand his own difficulties. Such a plot could be the ideal thematic continuation of the first six episodes of the Disney+ series.
Is Ammit dead?
Ammit was imprisoned in Arthur’s body by a spell to make his death easier. Ammit and Arthur’s Moon Knight’s balance of power over Khonshu and Marc makes them a deadly combination, even in mortal form. Jake Lockley shoots Arthur in the back seat of his limousine on Khonshu’s orders in the post-credits sequence. Death, however, takes place off-screen. Arthur accepted the position of Ammit’s avatar, further complicating this seemingly straightforward decision.
Even though the spell imprisons Ammit in his body, the fact that he is her avatar can negate the spell and protect them both. Ammit’s forces killed the Ennead in the Great Pyramid of Giza. As a result, gods are not completely immortal. A single bullet may not kill an avatar. It is certainly not for Moon Knight, who is protected by Khonshu and cannot be killed. However, this can only apply to the avatar of Khonshu. The spell can potentially override the avatar abilities, effectively killing Ammit and Arthur.
Dane Whitman cameo!
After the first season of the Moon Knight is over, we learn new things about the show every day. According to writer Jeremy Slater, a cameo appearance by Kit Harrington’s Dane Whitman was being investigated for the Disney+ series. In 2021’s Eternals, Harington’s character first appeared as Sersi’s love interest. Harington’s character worked at the London Natural History Museum as an ordinary scientist and historian who fell in love with Sersi. Because of his work at the Perfect History Museum, Slater believes a Whitman performance would be a good fit for the show.
