Manchester City can go three points clear atop the Premier League table with victory over Wolves tonight.
Liverpool fought to a 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Tuesday to maintain their hopes of a quadruple, despite falling behind early on against club legend Steven Gerrard.
But the pendulum can swing back in City’s favour as they enter this game in hand level on points and with the goal-difference advantage.
Questions were raised of Pep Guardiola when the Citizens were dumped out of the Champions League in unceremonious fashion by Real Madrid this time last week but they bounced back to hammer Newcastle on Sunday.
Next up are a Wolves side who need a win to maintain their hopes of crashing the top seven and qualifying for Europe next season.
Bruno Lage’s side have claimed victory in only one of their last seven matches although they did fight back away to Chelsea on the weekend, taking a 2-2 draw from two goals down.
