Anyone who has ever gotten a new puppy or kitten knows how exhausting it can be. Between the cute photos, random zoomies, and sleepy cuddles on the couch, there’s a lot of crying, sleepless nights, and clutter cleaning.
Welcoming a new member into your family takes a lot of time, effort and love. It can all take a long time (at least for the first few weeks), so you’ll obviously need a lot of help and support.
Fortunately, some companies are starting to recognize this. In addition to maternity, paternity and adoption leave, some forward-thinking companies are now also offering their employees paternity leave. Yes, they even give employees time off to welcome a furry friend into their family.

While this benefit is certainly still a bit new, its popularity is growing. After all, families come in all shapes and sizes. Companies that recognize that pets can mean the world to some people have been praised for their inclusivity. Plus, it’s a great way to boost morale.
So, here’s an overview of some of the companies that offer this quirky job advantage, and for many more companies with similar policies, visit the House of Talent Job Board.
Brewdog Plc
If the company’s logo is a dog, that’s a pretty good sign that it’s a pet-friendly workplace. Brewdog plc is an international pub chain and brewery founded in Scotland. The company introduced paternity leave in 2017 and employees can take a week off to welcome a puppy or senior dog into their home.
The puppy-leave arrangement sits alongside the company’s impressive benefits package, which includes beer training for all employees, a sabbatical program and the Unicorn Fund, where 10% of the organization’s annual profits are shared equally among all employees.
MARS Animal Care
MARS is the name behind some of the most recognizable household brands such as M&M’s, Dove, Milky Way, Uncle Bens, and of course under the Mars Petcare division, Pedigree and Whiskas. The company was one of the first brands to offer paternity leave.
Employees are given 10 hours of paid leave when purchasing a new pet and are then allowed to take it with them to the office. Other employee benefits include income protection, health and wellness programs, and flexible work policies.
mParticle
MParticle is a customer data platform headquartered in New York, but the company has six offices around the world, including London. The benefits package is really impressive and includes benefits such as health and dental insurance, team workouts, wellness programs and free daily meals.
When it comes to pets, employees can enjoy two weeks of paid leave if they adopt an animal from a shelter. They also get free pet insurance so their furry friends are taken care of for life. Where do we register?
robber
Rover is the largest network of dog sitters and walkers in the US. Unsurprisingly, the company has a slew of pet-related benefits. In addition to paternity leave, the company gives employees $1,000 to use toward raising a dog or cat. Employees also get three days of paid bereavement leave if their pet dies.
In addition, Rover has an open pet policy, with more than 50 dogs in the office every day. It sounds like heaven to us.
